DELL Server is in hang state and virtual drive in offline.
DELL Server not booting into OS due to 2 hard disks are missing in RAID 5.
Problem reported: –
Server hang state and not booting into OS.
Problem identifies: –
- Power drain the server and power ON it.
- Found server is not booting and giving virtual drive offline issue.
- Its not booting into OS and going into RAID BIOS if you are pressing any key.
- After enter into RAID BIOS found there are 2 hard disks failed in RAID 5, because of that VD is in offline.(DATA loss)


Action Taken: –
- Shutdown the server and remove the power cables.
- Remove and reconnected the failed drives than power ON the server.
- Found the same issue and server not booting into OS.
- Replaced the both the missing or failed hard drives.
- Delete the offline virtual drive. (DATA will be not available)
- Reconfigure the RAID 5 again and start the fast initialization.
- Found server boot into OS without any problem.
