  • Connect the Cisco console cable in the device console port to get the CLI command to promote
  • Login to the laptop through Putty
  • Select the com port number or SSH IP telnet
  • The baud rate is 9600 speeds for the serial line

Go into enable mode

Router> enable

Router# show running-config (to view the initial configuration)

Type into the below command to enter into configuration mode

After configuring the domain IP configuration

Router(config-if) # no shutdown (Run these command lines to save the given configuration)

Problem reported: –

Server hang state and not booting into OS.

Problem identifies: –

  • Power drain the server and power ON it.
  • Found server is not booting and giving virtual drive offline issue.
  • Its not booting into OS and going into RAID BIOS if you are pressing any key.
  • After enter into RAID BIOS found there are 2 hard disks failed in RAID 5, because of that VD is in offline.(DATA loss)

Action Taken: –

  • Shutdown the server and remove the power cables.
  • Remove and reconnected the failed drives than power ON the server.
  • Found the same issue and server not booting into OS.
  • Replaced the both the missing or failed hard drives.
  • Delete the offline virtual drive. (DATA will be not available)
  • Reconfigure the RAID 5 again and start the fast initialization.
  • Found server boot into OS without any problem.

Check if the status of the virtual disk displayed on the “VIRTUAL DISKS INCLUDED AFTER FOREIGN CONFIGURATION IMPORT” is Ready or Degraded and then click Import Foreign Configuration.

    • PHYSICAL DISKS INCLUDED AFTER FOREIGN CONFIGURATION IMPORT: Displays only disks in Foreign configuration
    • VIRTUAL DISKS INCLUDED AFTER FOREIGN CONFIGURATION IMPORT: Displays virtual disk after the import operation

Read the displayed warning, select Confirm, and then click Yes.

Once the message “The operation has been performed successfully” is displayed, click OK.

Click Back on the Configuration Management screen.

Note: The “Manage Foreign Configuration” menu is still displayed.

  1. Click Virtual Disk Management on the Main Menu screen, Check that the status of the virtual disk is Ready or Degraded.
    If the status is Ready, go to Step 9.
    If the status is anything other than Ready, follow the steps below to check the status.

    1. Click the appropriate virtual disk and check the Status.
    2. Click View Associated Physical Disk and check the physical disks that are part of the virtual disk.
      Contact Dell technical support if the disk status is anything other than Online status.

  1. Click BackFinishFinish, and then Finish. Once the warning, “Are you sure you want to exit?” is displayed, click Yes.
